How does it work?
On the day of the flight you have selected, you will receive a Welcome SMS message 3 hours prior to departure or arrival, this message also provides information of how to stop receiving further SMS messages if desired.
A primary status message is then delivered either 2 hours prior to departure or arrival. You will then be sent further alerts for each incremental change of +/- 20 minutes from the scheduled departure/arrival time.
The service ends on receipt of a departed or a landed message depending on whether you are tracking a departure or arrival.
The service is provided free of charge to the subscriber by Mobile Regional Airport.
What is SMS?
SMS (Short Messaging Service) facilitates communication by text between mobile phones and information providers. SMS usually limits users to 140 characters per message in the US and 160 characters in Europe.
What is included with OAG SMS Alerts?
With OAG SMS Alerts you receive the most up to date flight information collated from Airline Information Systems, Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and Flight Arrival/Departure boards.
The service covers 3 key areas:
Flight arrivals - You will receive information on the day of your selected flight, 2 hours before the scheduled arrival time and whilst the flight is airborne (if the arrival time changes). Once the flight has landed you will receive a notification with the actual arrival time. This service is primarily intended for anyone meeting people at airports.
Flight departures - You will receive information on whether your flight is running on time 2 hours before the scheduled departure. For the benefit of those awaiting your arrival, we can also send notification of when your flight has departed. The departure service is intended for both travellers and people who need to track your flight.
Flight delays - If there is a +/-20 minute change to your flight's scheduled arrival or departure, you (or the person awaiting your arrival) will be notified within seconds.
